2024 - Year in Review
Reflecting on Xilva’s 2024 journey, we find inspiration in the resilience, growth, and connection of the forest. In the past year, we set down even stronger roots, connected with new clients and partners, and were able to support investments in great forests around the world. And with new, innovative projects, we can increasingly reach for the sky, just as a good, strong tree in a forest does!
We’re thrilled to share some transformative developments that mark important milestones in our journey toward enabling more funding of forest and nature-based solutions (NbS). From exciting partnerships to powerful new insights, here’s what’s happening at Xilva:
Proud Partner in the Symbiosis Coalition Request for Proposal (RFP) for Reforestation & Agroforestry Projects
We’re honored that Xilva has been selected as a due diligence provider for the first Symbiosis Coalition RFP focused on reforestation and agroforestry projects.
Symbiosis Coalition, whose founding members are Google, Meta, Microsoft and Salesforce, has pledged to contract up to 20 million tonnes of high-quality nature-based carbon removal credits by 2030. It represents these companies’ ambition to catalyze the supply of the highest quality nature-based carbon removal projects, driving positive outcomes for the climate, nature, and Indigenous Peoples and local communities. This initiative is set to catalyze large-scale impact for nature-based solutions, and we’re proud to play a key role in ensuring projects meet the highest standards for integrity and impact.
🔎 What does this mean? As a due diligence partner, Xilva will assess and validate projects, ensuring they are of high quality, credible, effective, and impactful. This is a big step forward for the sector and for us as we continue to lead due diligence for forest & natural solutions with transparency and rigor.
New Report: "Navigating Risks & Realizing Opportunities in Forest & Nature-Based Investments"
More than 200 forest project assessments later, we think it is our responsibility to share important insights on risks and opportunities with all stakeholders in NbS investments to help bridge the gap, remove friction and enable more funding of nature.
Hence we have launched a new study which distilled important lessons learned by us based on a sample of 288 assessments we have carried out over the last 3 years: "Navigating Risks & Realizing Opportunities in Forest & Nature-Based Investments"
This in-depth study provides:
☑️ Key insights into emerging risks and how to manage them
☑️ Actionable guidance on seizing new investment opportunities
☑️ Real-world case studies and market-driven analysis
The study shows that focusing solely on carbon credits does not fully capture the true scope and potential returns of forest and natural capital investments, underscoring the importance of a broader approach to risk assessment.
